COACHING AND TAKING A COACHING APPROACH IN EDUCATION

Successful Work Team
Introduction and Description

Coaching has become an essential competence in modern education, where teachers and school staff are increasingly expected to facilitate learner autonomy, support colleagues, and contribute to positive organisational cultures. This course introduces participants to coaching as a transformative professional practice that strengthens communication, enhances motivation, and fosters collaborative leadership. Grounded in contemporary research on learning, behaviour, and organisational development, the programme equips educators with practical tools for guiding others toward deeper reflection, self-direction, and improved performance.

Across the 5-day and the extended 10-day versions, participants explore core coaching principles, develop key skills such as active listening, questioning and reframing, and learn to apply recognised coaching models in authentic educational contexts. They examine how limiting beliefs, fixed mindsets, and communication patterns influence learning and teamwork, and how coaching approaches can help shift perspectives, build trust, and support meaningful personal and professional growth. The course also introduces coaching as a leadership style and examines its relevance for teacher collaboration, school improvement processes, and learner wellbeing.

Through experiential workshops, peer-coaching practice, case studies, and structured reflection, participants gain the confidence to integrate coaching methods into their everyday roles. The programme further emphasises the use of digital tools and European platforms to sustain collaboration and extend coaching initiatives beyond the course itself. Designed to inspire long-term impact, this training supports participants in developing strategies for embedding coaching cultures within their institutions, strengthening collegial relationships, and fostering environments where both teachers and learners thrive.

Both the 5-day and 10-day versions are suitable for Erasmus+ Key Action 1 projects and provide a rich framework for developing professional competence, intercultural understanding, and European cooperation among educators committed to supporting growth and transformation in their schools.
