LEARNING ENGLISH THE FUN WAY: INERMEDIATE (A2 & B1)

Introduction and Description

Developing strong English language competence is essential for teachers and school staff working in today’s increasingly interconnected and multilingual educational landscape. As English continues to function as a key medium of international collaboration, professional mobility, and access to global knowledge, educators with higher levels of communicative proficiency are better equipped to engage with European networks, participate confidently in Erasmus+ mobility activities, and contribute to the internationalisation of their institutions.

This course offers both 5-day and 10-day formats designed to strengthen the English proficiency of teachers at A2–B1 levels through meaningful, enjoyable, and socially rich learning experiences. Rather than relying on traditional textbook-based instruction, the programme places participants at the centre of immersive communicative contexts—storytelling, role play, outdoor learning, city exploration, cultural interpretation, and creative language tasks—that mirror the situations in which English is naturally used. Such experiential learning enables educators to develop fluency, expand vocabulary, refine grammatical accuracy, and communicate with increased confidence and clarity.

For schools, the course contributes directly to institutional capacity building: improved teacher proficiency enhances international cooperation, enriches project implementation, facilitates communication with partners abroad, and strengthens inclusion strategies by allowing educators to support linguistically diverse learners. Both versions of the programme provide structured yet empowering pathways for teachers to grow as communicators, reflective learners, and active contributors to the European Educational Area.

Whether participating in the shorter 5-day intensive or the more extended 10-day immersive programme, educators experience English as a dynamic tool for interaction, cultural discovery, critical thinking, and professional empowerment—aligning perfectly with the aims and priorities of Erasmus+ projects focused on staff development, digital and linguistic skills, innovation, and lifelong learning.

Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Language Knowledge & Communication

  • Demonstrate increased confidence and competency in spoken English across a range of everyday and semi-professional contexts.

  • Use an expanded vocabulary related to daily life, cultural topics, art, storytelling, travel, and collaborative tasks.

  • Apply improved grammatical control appropriate for A2–B1 communication, with particular emphasis on functional structures, past tenses, modal verbs, and connectors.

  • Employ enhanced pronunciation, stress, rhythm, and intonation patterns to ensure clearer intelligibility.

Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing Skills

  • Understand short spoken and written texts with greater ease and extract essential information for communicative tasks.

  • Engage in extended conversations, discussions, and problem-solving activities using coherent and comprehensible English.

  • Produce written descriptions, narratives, and summaries with improved cohesion and accuracy.

  • Interpret artworks, cultural elements, and real-life settings through descriptive and inferential language in English.

  • Identify personal language strengths and areas for continued development, setting realistic goals for sustained improvement beyond the course.

Preparation

After registration participants will receive pre-course questionnaire which will be used by the trainer to learn about participants’ teaching backgrounds and to assess their exact needs. Before the beginning of the course a basic reading list will be suggested to participants to prepare for the training. Participants will also be asked to prepare a presentation about themselves, their professional context and their culture. The presentation will be presented on the first day of the course to facilitate networking opportunities. Participants will receive information about the country they are going to visit in order to prepare them for their cultural experience.

Follow up

After the course participants will be asked to share what they have learned with the rest of the staff in their schools. Further books and articles to deepen the topic and contacts with some other practitioners all over Europe and in the world will be suggested by the trainer. The methods shared and explored and the bibliography given will allow the participants to complete and improve their educational path.
