ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) IN EDUCATION: MASTERING THE FUTURE OF TEACHING

Introduction and Description
Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping the landscape of education, redefining how knowledge is produced, accessed and assessed. As schools and organisations navigate this profound transition, educators require not only technical competencies but also a deep pedagogical and ethical understanding of AI’s implications for teaching, learning and professional practice. AI in Education: Mastering the Future of Teaching responds to this need by offering a research-informed, practice-oriented programme that empowers educators to engage critically, creatively and confidently with emerging AI technologies.

Available in both 5-day and 10-day versions, the course provides a comprehensive exploration of AI tools—including generative language models, AI-powered assessment systems, game-based learning technologies, visual and audio generators, and adaptive learning platforms—and equips participants to evaluate their pedagogical affordances and limitations. Rather than approaching AI as a set of isolated technical solutions, the programme situates these tools within broader educational debates surrounding inclusion, differentiation, digital pedagogy, cognitive engagement, academic integrity, data ethics and the evolving professional identity of teachers.
Throughout the course, participants engage in hands-on workshops, collaborative design activities and reflective discussions that link AI capabilities to real classroom challenges. They learn to design AI-enhanced learning materials, automate routine planning tasks, create interactive games and quizzes, generate formative and summative assessment tools, and integrate AI responsibly into feedback and grading processes. The programme emphasises teacher agency, enabling educators to retain pedagogical control while leveraging AI to personalise learning, reduce workload, enhance creativity and strengthen instructional coherence.
For educational organisations, the course offers significant strategic value. AI literacy is increasingly recognised as a key competence for school development, digital transformation planning and future curriculum innovation. By developing a shared institutional understanding of the opportunities and risks associated with AI, schools can position themselves at the forefront of pedagogical innovation, ensuring that AI adoption is ethical, equitable and aligned with European values of inclusion, transparency and human-centred learning.
Designed to support Erasmus+ Key Action 1 projects, the course provides participants with transferable skills, practical resources and implementation strategies that can directly strengthen school development plans, digital learning frameworks and long-term organisational capacity. Whether completed in the focused 5-day format or the more extensive 10-day pathway, participants leave equipped to lead AI integration in their institutions, support colleagues’ professional learning and contribute to the creation of future-ready, innovative and responsible educational environments.

Preparation
After registration participants will receive pre-course questionnaire which will be used by the trainer to learn about participants’ teaching backgrounds and to assess their exact needs. Before the beginning of the course a basic reading list will be suggested to participants to prepare for the training. Participants will also be asked to prepare a presentation about themselves, their professional context and their culture. The presentation will be presented on the first day of the course to facilitate networking opportunities. Participants will receive information about the country they are going to visit in order to prepare them for their cultural experience.
Follow up
After the course participants will be asked to share what they have learned with the rest of the staff in their schools. Further books and articles to deepen the topic and contacts with some other practitioners all over Europe and in the world will be suggested by the trainer. The methods shared and explored and the bibliography given will allow the participants to complete and improve their educational path.
