SCHOOLS

Introduction and Description

Lessons from Finland with School Visits offers educators a unique opportunity to engage directly with one of the world’s most respected education systems. Available in both 5-day and 10-day formats, the course provides a comprehensive exploration of the pedagogical, organisational, and cultural principles that underpin Finland’s internationally recognised success. Through a thoughtfully designed combination of expert input, structured school visits, and collaborative workshops, participants experience first-hand how Finnish schools cultivate equity, wellbeing, learner autonomy, and high levels of professional trust.

In an era marked by rapid social change, diverse classrooms, and rising expectations placed upon schools, the Finnish model offers powerful insights into how educational organisations can remain both high-performing and deeply humane. Its emphasis on holistic student development, formative assessment, inclusion, and teacher professionalism resonates strongly with the priorities of contemporary European education. By observing authentic practice and engaging in guided analysis, participants develop a nuanced understanding of how these principles translate into classroom routines, learning environments, and whole-school cultures.

The course supports teachers, school leaders and educational staff in reflecting critically on their own systems while identifying context-appropriate innovations inspired by Finnish practice. Whether attending the condensed 5-day format or the more immersive 10-day programme, participants leave with concrete strategies, action plans, and a renewed sense of professional purpose. This course aligns strongly with Erasmus+ goals of enhancing quality, fostering innovation, supporting inclusion, and strengthening European cooperation, making it a highly relevant and impactful choice for mobility projects.
