ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION THROUGH MANTLE OF THE EXPERT APPROACH

Introduction and Description

Entrepreneurship is increasingly recognised as a vital competence for learners across all stages of education, supporting creativity, initiative, problem-solving, collaboration and responsible citizenship. In a rapidly changing world characterised by uncertainty, technological transformation and evolving labour markets, schools are expected to cultivate learners who can generate ideas, create value, act ethically and work with others to address real-life challenges. This course responds to these needs by introducing educators to Mantle of the Expert (MoE), an innovative pedagogical approach that integrates enterprise thinking, dramatic inquiry and authentic learning contexts.
Through MoE, learners are positioned as members of an expert enterprise working on meaningful commissions, enabling them to develop entrepreneurial mindsets while engaging deeply with curriculum content. This approach creates dynamic, student-centred environments where imagination, inquiry, collaboration and responsibility drive learning. For schools and organisations striving to innovate, enhance student engagement and align with European competence frameworks, MoE provides a powerful structure for fostering initiative, creativity, resilience and teamwork.
Both the 5-day and 10-day versions of the course offer a comprehensive introduction to entrepreneurship education rooted in the European EntreComp Framework and grounded in contemporary research on experiential, inquiry-based pedagogy. Participants learn how to design fictional enterprises, structure collaborative roles, facilitate drama-based learning tasks, and implement short- and long-term MoE projects that bring entrepreneurship competences to life in accessible and inclusive ways.
The course is particularly relevant to Erasmus+ projects focused on innovation, inclusion, active citizenship, student engagement, transversal skills and whole-school development. It equips educators with tools to create authentic learning experiences, strengthen their school’s competence-based curriculum, and support the strategic objectives of their internationalisation and professional development plans. By the end of the programme, participants will be empowered to design MoE-based entrepreneurship activities adaptable to diverse subjects, age groups and school contexts, contributing to long-term capacity building within their organisations.
