WEB DESIGN FOR BEGINNERS

Introduction and Description
In an educational landscape increasingly shaped by digital communication, visibility and online collaboration, the ability to design and manage a clear, accessible and professionally curated website has become an essential competence for teachers and school staff. This course introduces participants to the foundations of educational web design, empowering them to create digital spaces that support learning, disseminate project outcomes, showcase school achievements and strengthen community engagement.

Drawing on principles of user-centred design, digital literacy, multimodal communication and accessibility, the programme positions web design as a pedagogically meaningful practice rather than a purely technical skill. Participants learn how layout, information architecture, colour, typography, images, and multimedia shape the way educational content is perceived, understood and used by students, colleagues, parents and external stakeholders. Through guided exploration of effective website models and hands-on creation of their own pages, participants develop the capacity to build online environments that are intuitive, aesthetically coherent and aligned with educational objectives.
The course is offered in both 5-day and 10-day formats, allowing organisations to choose the level of depth that best matches their developmental priorities. The 5-day programme focuses on fundamental platform skills, structuring pages, integrating multimedia content and designing resource sections. The extended 10-day programme expands this foundation with additional modules exploring interactive elements, collaborative tools for international projects, and advanced approaches to managing and publishing digital educational resources.
For schools engaged in Erasmus+ projects, the ability to design and maintain a high-quality website is a strategic asset. A well-constructed digital presence enables institutions to document mobility experiences, disseminate project outcomes, facilitate cross-border collaboration and enhance the visibility of their school’s European partnerships. It further empowers teachers to create inclusive learning environments that remain accessible beyond classroom walls and across national borders.
By the end of the course, participants will have created a functional educational website and gained the conceptual understanding needed to sustain and expand it. More importantly, they will have recognised how thoughtful web design can support pedagogical innovation, strengthen institutional identity, and foster meaningful engagement within and beyond the school community—key dimensions of quality and impact in today’s educational organisations and Erasmus+ initiatives.
